Our Purpose

Our purpose is to build a community choir of teens and adults on the North side of Chicago in which each individual’s strengths and differences are invited, celebrated, and valued. Our hope is to create an environment in which we sing the songs that mean home to each of us.

As a grown up foster child, I have always searched for home, and after teaching in the refugee camps of Greece, I have learned that home is alive in the communities we create and in the songs we sing.

In our rehearsals, we will learn songs both by using sheet music and by rote. We will work with local community organizations and nonprofits to reach potential singers from the rich and varied cultural tapestry of our Northside home. We will choose our music together to represent our members. We are a new choir, so we will be learning and growing together! I am so looking forward to singing with you!
